Today's spatial design presents a series of visual games, driven by consumerism, where space is relegated to composition. Neutra Architects aims to explore through practice how spatial design should confront consumerism and how to shape spaces that inspires people, bringing the potential to elevate the human spirit.
We look to nature and classics for eternal inspiration in spatial expression.
Nature emphasizes the objectivity of beauty. As a part bestowed upon humans, it mobilizes our emotions as individuals, so as designers. It is the objective beauty we actively choose.
Classics focus on reconnecting space to the objective relationship between the human body and matter. This theory can be traced back to the Middle Ages. Spatial design achieves eternity in dynamics by dealing with the relative relationship between people and materials/details, people and proportion/scale.
Therefore, our "neutral" attitude towards aesthetics is based on using emotions to subjectively express objective beauty; while the design is relaxed with intentional flexibility, hoping that the space becomes organic and thrives with the participation of everyone during its use.
